A truly belated review as this was back on Australia Day this year. A road trip to Kiama meant we got to check off the famous Kiama Blowhole on our list and paid a visit to Milk and Honey Cafe for a late breakfast conveniently located near the attraction. Due to its location it was expected to see business in full swing and even with a full house, our orders didn't take long at all to arrive. There was ample outdoor and indoor seating available and despite being a cloudy day the sea view was still wonderful.
Mango Smoothie |
A super thick and creamy mango smoothie sweetened with honey. It was delightful and refreshing to drink and especially so because it wasn't overly sweet and was blended thoroughly so there was no grittiness.
Maple glazed bacon and waffle with berry compote |
Deciding between sweet or savoury food for breakfast has always been a dilemma for me but since discovering pairing french toast or waffles with bacon it has definitely been my saviour. A Belgian waffle with a generous side of bacon was exactly what I needed and with a scoop of vanilla ice cream too, I was certainly salivating and marvelling at what was before me. The waffle was everything I had imagined it to be, thick and fluffy yet firm in texture and the maple-glazed bacon thin and crisp. It was a harmonious balance of flavours and textures.
Big Breakfast |
DT had the Big Breakfast which was a typical assortment of Western breakfast foods. It was good value for money and was very filling. It wasn't anything particularly special but it's difficult to go past a simple yet delicious combination. For me, it's the hash brown that I look forward to eating the most, followed by juicy sautéed mushrooms, bacon and eggs.
Do visit this lovely cafe especially if you're checking out the Kiama Blowhole as DT and I found that it was a great place to relax with the bonus of delicious food. We ordered solely from the breakfast menu and so we hope to try their lunch menu next time we're in the area.
