    I was invited to have a complimentary meal for two at Grill'd in Parramatta Westfield back in February and so this review is long overdue. I remember Grill'd having its first store in the Sydney CBD a long while back and I am happy to see it has expanded greatly since then.

    The Famous Grill'd Chips with Herbed Mayo
    While not the focal point of the meal these thick-cut potato chips were delicious. They were not your ordinary deep fried pieces of potato goodness as they were seasoned with a unique blend of herbs and not oozing with oil so you will not feel greasy after demolishing them. And you definitely cannot deny a side of chips with your burger.

    I have been yearning to indulge in this recently introduced (May 2013) Japanese high tea service at Azuma and it has proven to be rather difficult to arrange a day to come here as the high tea sessions are only available from Mondays to Fridays from 2 to 5pm. Finally a friend and myself found a day to have the high tea on Christmas Eve. No bookings are required, you may just rock up and mention that you are having high tea and you will be seated straight away.

    Here is a link to their high tea menu. We opted for the Kyoto high tea which was $25 per person and included a choice of tea or coffee.

    It took about 20 minutes for the food to come out which not a long a wait at all and when it was brought out my eyes lit up in excitement. Everything was daintily presented and looked really delicious especially the desserts. I love how everything was arranged in cute bento boxes which made it all the more traditional and unique.

    Warren Turnbull's Albion Street Kitchen, which we had visited not too long ago has now transformed into a buzzing burger joint. There are not many burgers I have eaten in my lifetime that have amazed me and now we have Chur Burger and it is undoubtedly serving amazing burgers. 

    Crispy quail eggs with tarragon mayo $10
    I have never had battered quail eggs before and they sounded amazing. Sure enough I was not disappointed as they were extremely scrumptious morsels. Dipping the eggs in the tarragon mayo definitely gave it a lovely kick. The only con was that there was not enough of them. DT also had a caramel milkshake which was really good and not watered down at all, but $8 is way too expensive for a milkshake.

    We do not usually venture out to have Indian food but when we do it is always at Neelam in Parramatta. I should try other Indian restaurants but thus far I feel Neelam serves really good and authentic Indian cuisine. I have come to like Indian curries as they are thick in consistency and therefore very flavoursome.

    Aloo Tikki ($7.90)
    We started off with potato patties which were surprisingly very green, I honestly do not know how they achieved that colour intensity but I am assuming a lot of peas went into the making of them. The outside was crunchy whereas the inside was soft and it was actually quite spicy making them all the more delicious. The masala yoghurt and tamarind sauce complemented the patties really well as the minty flavours balanced out the spiciness.

    Mamak is by far the best place to have authentic roti canai. This small restaurant which dishes up Malaysian cuisine is still as busy as ever judging by the queues at lunch and dinner time. I took my mum and sister here for lunch on a Saturday and we had to wait about 15 minutes before we got a table. 

    Roti Canai ($5.50)
    If you have to try anything at Mamak it is definitely the roti canai. It is just like their description says; crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The two accompanying curry sauces are great with one a tad spicier than the other and if you like them even spicier, dip the roti in the sambal sauce. I always opt for the original roti because it is definitely more thin and flaky than the other variants which I've found a bit doughy. Having had roti canai in Malaysia I can safely say it is definitely comparable albeit more expensive.

    Among the many cafes situated alongside Bondi Beach is the extremely popular Trio. Recommended by a friend of mine DT and I decided to have brunch here before making our Sculpture by the Sea trek. Luckily for us it was a glorious sunny day and as such perfect weather to enjoy the sights.
    This place was seriously buzzing as we were told it would be a 30 minute wait but 15 minutes later we were seated so it wasn't too long of a wait. The staff here were very friendly and cheery and service was quite prompt considering how busy the cafe was.

    I opted for the Big Breakfast while DT chose the Wagyu Beef Burger.

    Big Breakfast  $22
    The big breakfast consists of two eggs which you can choose how you like them cooked (I had them poached), toast, sautéed mushrooms, bacon, sausage, baked kipfler potatoes and smoky tomato chutney. The toast was a bit tough but layering the top with butter and some of the chutney made it pretty scrumptious. The bacon was crispy and not overly salty while the sausages had some good flavour and were moist in the inside. The potatoes were baked perfectly as they were not hard at all and were nice and warm when popped into the mouth. I loved the button mushrooms which were lightly pan fried to retain its moisture. Finally, the eggs were poached perfectly; cutting them in half to reveal the yolk oozing out was a delight for me.

    I have visited Sydney Madang probably three or four times now and still believe it is probably the best place for Korean food. It is an extremely popular joint despite it being hidden in an alleyway which goes to show that this restaurant dishes up some really good food.

    My most recent visit to Sydney Madang was for dinner and we had to wait about 45 minutes before we could get a table because it was so busy, I suppose it did not help that it was on a Saturday night either.

    I love the side dishes that are always complimentary in Korean restaurants. They are extremely good to nibble on while waiting for the food to come out.
